Day 719

Pack Mentality is alive and well with our Goldens! The only problem they have centers around the fact that their true "Alpha," yours truly, is not the strongest leader by nature!

When forced into a leadership role, I can make myself step up, but it is truly out of my comfort zone! For the Goldens, I lead when it is necessary and gently love the rest of the time.

Being a leader has a certain expectation and visual attached for most. A no-nonsense personality, exuding strength and a take-charge personality seem to fit the bill. Individuals, such as these, have certainly been a part of my journey.

However, there have been other leaders who led with grace, patience and empathy. Still accomplishing the task at hand, these leaders held a different place in my heart. Allowing me to be creative and making sure that respect and caring were at the center of the project, these "Alphas" held my devotion and allowed me to offer more from my place of safety.

So...to be the "Leader of the Pack" for my Goldens crew, I take solace in the idea that leadership can be gentle and kind while still achieving the goal. As the Matriarch of my Family Pack, my techniques are the same.. I hope my "Packs" agree!
