Day 686
Today was a day of connections with Lilly's friends. That Golden Girl's love reaches far afield!
One of her favorite seniors texted to make sure we had survived the holiday events and let us know he had made an appointment at the VA (Dear Mac is his driver). He ended by asking me to love all four Goldens, but make sure to give special love to Lilly!
After an appointment early in the afternoon, we arrived home to find a strange car in the driveway. As the dogs shared their welcome from the window, I realized it was the daughter of one of our dearest senior ladies. We knew that sweet Carol had passed recently, but her daughter wanted to make sure someone had told us. As she shared the Celebration of Life details, she stopped and said, "You know, she loved Lilly so much. She talked about her and enjoyed every visit." After a tearful hug, we thanked her for stopping by and told her we would be there to honor her mom.
Next, a favorite senior friend needed a ride to his storage unit with a quick stop at his home. When we got to the house, we realized the recent snow, now melting, had seeped into his basement! After an hour of moving wet boxes, I decided both Mac and I needed our own Therapy Dogs!!!
Heading home, we laughed about this being our day off! On Mondays, we don't usually have Therapy Dog visits. I am thankful that we were available to support our amazing senior friends. I am especially grateful that I have a side-kick who never complains about the different avenues he gets dragged down on the heels of his Goldens. He is truly an amazing human...just ask any of our pups!
So, Lilly and Ranger are both resting up to meet their adoring fans tomorrow while Gus and Sam roughhouse at my feet. Although they don't realize their impact, our Goldens weave a web of compassion and love. We are simply lucky enough to be a part of the intricate pattern.
