Day 676

Sweet Lilly is enjoying a well-deserved snooze. She absolutely loves her friends at Norbella, but one of the ladies can be a slight challenge.

Take one of the newest residents in Memory Care for example. This lovely woman lovingly pursues our pup while rolling after Lilly in her wheelchair. Today, it finally dawned on me...she believes Lilly is HER dog, Zoey! No wonder she is in hot pursuit! Upon discovering this new confusion about ownership, I decided to simply call our Golden 'Zoey' when we are interacting. Our lady is happy, Lilly/Zoey is happy and it seems to work from this end of the leash! The only slight bump in the road is the fact that I am honest to a fault!

There are avenues around the truth, like omitting information, avoiding a topic or simply directing a conversation in a different direction. I am somewhat comfortable with those options, but downright lying is beyond my comfort zone.

My dad used to say, "If you are going to lie, make sure to write it down so you remember what you said!"...he was not a fan of fibbing either!

Well, if Miss Lilly needs to be 'Zoey' once a week, so be it! If it warms someone's heart to think our girl is her own dog, then we will stretch that truth. Otherwise, honesty is the best...the only...policy for this gal!
