Day 635

Today has been a day spent in one of my Happy Places! If I were a Golden, my happiness might be found at a lake, an open field, a walk by the river... but always with those I love. As a human, my requirements aren't that different. It was a gift to spend my day with people I truly love.

Visiting these folks in their beautiful home, I wondered why my Happiness Meter was HIGH! Being with those I love is a huge part, but the feeling of peace also permeated my day.

Later in the afternoon, we were in the car and passed an estate sale. Stopping by on a whim, we entered and were enveloped in someone's life. Walking from room to room, there was no essence of "happiness" to be found. The house was large, sterile and cold...so unlike the Happy Place provided by my beloved friends. What was missing? Certainly, the melancholy setting, due to viewing someone's past life, but it was more than that. The house was devoid of warmth.

In my opinion, Happy Places need three things:

*A warmth brought about by the furnishings.

*A feeling of safety and calm when you enter the doorway.

*The feeling of love encompassing every corner of the place!

Today, I found each element at the home of my friends. My heart was warmed and my very being felt happy. Hopefully, my home can be that for others. I know my pups feel happy there and they know best!
