Day 580

Oh! The joy of reunions!!! Jimmy is home for Christmas and the dogs are ecstatic! We let them out individually to save Jimmy from being knocked to the ground! All of them cried and their tails are still wagging!

There must be so many reunions happening as we approach the holidays. Each one is unique, but all are heartfelt. Each relationship has its own history which makes coming together so personal and loving.

In my own life, there have been so many of these homecomings...each one memorable and precious. Coming home to my grandmother's embrace after college, my own children returning home from adventures, my sweet Goldens greeting us when we return from our travels and many other reconnections...all with their own special moment.

When we return to a place we have left behind, it is the people who spark the memories. If a certain coffee shop pulls at the heartstrings, it is because of those who shared special moments with you there. If the football field calls to your heart, it is the people who shared your memories with you. If you look out over the water of a lake or river, you remember the fun and laughter of those that made it special.

When someone returns home to loved ones, that seems to be the most heartfelt reunion of all. The house, the yard, the furnishings and more are only special because of the people who shared those spaces with you. Memories are rich this time of year and are embraced by everyone...two and four-legged alike. Traditions are treasured as family draws near.

Hoping everyone has amazing reunions in the next week or so. Hug, laugh, cry, eat, share and do all of the things that will make the next reunion even richer. Wagging tails and all, my pups somehow seem to understand living in the moment with those they love. Here's to being present and lots of wagging tails!
