Day 524

Unlike my Goldens, Minnesota humans have to make preparations for WINTER!!!! When the snow flies, all of our pups adore playing outside and the bonus might just be that they come back in cleaner than when they made their exit! Snow and Goldens go together!

For two-legged Minnesotans, there is a ritual we must adhere to in order to prepare for the coming winter. Sprinkling system blown, hoses drained and stored, LEAVES raked, outdoor furniture dragged inside...and so much more. Somehow, it feels good to make these preparations...almost like tucking in a baby for a long nap.

Although we joke about the coming season, it does have its perks. We tend to gather together around the table, enjoy cozy blankets in front of the fireplace, walks in the snow, warm cookies and milk and Sunday dinners! I do love the "Gathering Season!"

Last night was the "Light Up the Night Parade" in the Halloween Capital of the World! The day was full of fun, family and excitement! We started the day with Katie's in-laws (wonderful group) at a pumpkin patch and had a picnic after loading our orange treasures in the car. Then, a neighborhood dinner at our cousin's with wonderful food, friends and family! Finally, off to the night parade! With the weather cooperating, it was the perfect day and start to the Gathering Season!

Embracing the warm feelings these get-togethers bring, I feel gratitude for the changing of the seasons. This cozy time of year allows us to slow down and appreciate the things that matter...family, friends and a a warm place to enjoy both! As for the Goldens, they simply enjoy whatever waits outside of the doggy door (and also a snooze in front of the fireplace)!
