Day 514

This morning, a friend from high school stopped by to bring me a picture. This treasure had been in their family for years and she decided it needed a new home. Of course, our Golden Home came to mind and we welcomed it with open arms.

Wendy and I do not see each other regularly, so the gift meant even more. She simply thought of me and took the time to share this beautiful picture with us! What a pure and genuine act of kindness.

Of course, my Goldens offer this type of gift over and over. As I write, they surround me and offer paws on the arm, licks on the face and attempts to be the closest to my feet. They give with no expectation of reward...the best kind of gift.

In our world, people often expect something in return for their effort. Worse yet, many never even consider offering a kind act or deed. If we focus on those individuals, we could become jaded and hopeless.

Lucky for us, there are the Wendys of the world with hearts of "Gold." Giving, with no thought of receiving is a beautiful act. The saying goes,

"Let me be the person my dog thinks I am."

Giving, with no thought of return might just be something to strive for! A pure, "Golden" goal!
