Day 446

You might say we give our Goldens everything we think they need or want:

* A raised water bowl for our seniors so they don't have to bend down to drink

*Every imaginable cushy bed for warmth and comfort

*Snuggle puppies so they can sleep with a stuffy that hides a beating heart

*Numerous, daily walks that accommodate their varying needs

*Dog TV for their cable viewing pleasure

*Hot and cold running water on the side of the house (Thank you Dear, Sweet Terry Overacker)for bathing outside

*Life jackets for pontoon rides

...and the list goes on to include the best veterinarian care, best food, best treats and anything else we can think of! It sounds ridiculous, but we love them like family and feel responsible for their best life possible.

With all of the gifts we bestow on their Golden heads, there is only one thing they really need and want. That one thing is to be with us. They are always an arm's length away from us whenever possible. A simple, loving touch, belly rubs or just a head in our laps is all they really ask.

In a world where humans chase after the next best "thing," we can all take a lesson from these pups (and all beloved pets). If you love someone, give them time and attention. In the end that is the the most precious gift we can offer.
