Day 418
Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Cory Laing at QCTV for a photo shoot. Cory entered the "Walking With Goldens" documentary for consideration in the Telly Award competition. It won two awards and he invited Jimmy Good, Ranger and myself over to see the actual statues. They were beautiful!
As I held one of the statues in my hands, I marveled at the recognition of Cory, Jimmy and the work of Therapy Dogs. It truly is an honor and we were humbled to be asked to stop by for a picture or two.
Humans need recognition from time-to-time to acknowledge that we are doing something right. It doesn't have to be in the form of a statue, but kind words, a thank you note or even a "thumbs up" goes a long way in reassuring a person about their actions and goals.
I keep a box of simple mementos which reminds me of the people who have been connected with the Goldens. Cards, notes, gifts and other treasures are found within. It helps to know we are making a difference in a few lives now and then.
As for Ranger and Lilly, they just shower the world with love (and Golden hair) without any need for accolades. They teach me every day to be more dog-like within my heart! Today, however, this human was happy to hold that award in her hands.
Congratulations to Cory (Director) and Jimmy (Producer and Voice-over artist) as the real talent behind the documentary! Of course, Ranger and Lilly need a pat on the back as the real stars... they would probably prefer a dog treat!
