Day 389

It is interesting how many times one individual seems to be enjoying the moment while those in the vicinity are not having much fun! This morning, Sweet Asher brought over his remote control flip car. I was intrigued with the toy and amazed at the way Asher was able to manipulate the car to do some pretty spectacular acrobatics. Lilly and Ranger were not amused in the least. After one accidental bump to Lilly's leg, the machine was relegated to the great outdoors!

We all have activities which make us happy and light up our world. However, there is the possibility that others in our life are not too thrilled as non-participants or observers.

For me, perhaps the smell of my beloved popcorn makes someone else nauseous. There is a chance that watching me eat raw cookie dough is not a pleasant sight for others. In my home, there are varying opinions on watching football, certain music, yardwork (one of us hates it while the other is in her glory.), flying in small planes, clutter and a variety of other rather innocuous indulgences. We do try to accommodate others in the home and have a vast amount of forgiveness when "the remote control car" (simply a great Umbrella Word) hits us at the wrong time. Life is always a give and take proposition.

Lucky for me, I am married to a guy who always puts me first. When I find Mac doing something in which I am NOT wanting to participate, I know he must really need that escape (i.e. war movies). I simply move on and listen to some Barry Manilow...not a passive aggressive act...I PROMISE!

Most people in my circle of loved ones attempt to be considerate of those around them. That is not always the case with some strangers we encounter. Loud music from cars driving by, littering treat containers after an activity down at Goodrich Field, graffiti painted on our Little Library, and a host of other thoughtless gestures come about when people are enjoying themselves and not putting themselves in someone else's shoes.

The loud music might keep up a sleepy child, the litter has to be picked up by neighbors near the field, a box needs to be repainted and so many other needless reactions to the thoughtless actions of someone else. I do not believe individuals typically TRY to bother others with their chosen activities, but they don't see the consequences of their "fun."

If everyone would just take a moment to think with their heart and check for adverse reactions to the fun they might be having, our world would be a kinder, gentler place. As for the pups and that remote control car, it was a great teachable moment and Mr. Asher wanted nothing more than their furry forgiveness.
