Day 33

6/13/22

As I walked my precious goldens today, it occurred to me that they have introduced me to many wonderful new friends. Either on the walk or in a round-about way, these dear people have been woven into the tapestry of my life because I have these wonderful pups.

Just today, sweet Sharon stepped out her front door to inquire about Gus and his recovery. This lady has been such a light in our lives with her smile and gentle ways.

There is also Tom, who stops when on foot or on his bike, to ask about the dogs and my family. He is such a fine person and I am honored to know him!

Liz has moved, but we had an instant bond when we met on our walks with the dogs. We soon discovered her labs and my goldens were all therapy dogs and she has been my cheerleader for years. She helped me to certify Nicky. (He was a 12-year-old poodle mix who joined our family when his mama went into hospice.) so that his sweet Kay would know he would move forward with a loving family and an honored job to perform.

Bob became a friend when he had trouble training his lab puppy. Liz, yes the same friend, and I came to his rescue by walking and training this wayward dog. Nellie is an amazing pup now and Bob has become a dear friend who is well into his 80s's. He is a gift!

I could go on forever, but I need to honor my friend, Niecy. This woman has entered my life through the books I have written about the goldens in my life. An advocate and a dear friend, she has been one of the biggest surprises and blessings in my world. Nobody expects to meet one of their dearest friends when they are MY age! She brought this mug to me the other day along with a hug. She is a gift!

There are so many others who have touched my heart by connecting through my pups. Each one is a gift!

These goldens have opened so many doors of friendship and I am the lucky recipient of all that love!
