Day 316

3/28/23

Sam and Gus LOVE to go out in the backyard and play HARD! Every time they decide to come inside through their doggy door, I need to be right there with a bucket of soapy water and towels for "Rooba Rooba!" They are such delights. I can't even be frustrated with the mess they bring inside with them!

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather today, but already on the mend with a blessed anti-biotic! I rarely get the full effect of my Therapy Dogs (Certified and Training) focused on me. I often talk about the joy and comfort they bring to others on their visits, but today, I WAS that visit!

They could sense that I wasn't at 100% and moved into action. Lilly placed her head in my lap during lunch and didn't even beg for one morsel. Ranger nudged my elbow over and over until I stopped eating and scratched his ears while he licked my arm. Even Ranger didn't beg...only wanted to connect and make sure I was doing OK.

Napping is not in my vocabulary so, when I told Mac I thought I might take a short snooze after lunch, he got right on the phone to make a doctor's appointment. By then, I was in the back bedroom with Gus snuggled in as tightly as he possibly could and Sam on Guard Duty watching my every breath. They were concerned and wouldn't leave my side. Those boys are going to be wonderful Therapy Dogs!

After a brief trip to Urgent Care for a quick visit and some RX, we were off and heading home. All four Goldens acted like I had been on another lengthy trip when I walked in the door. Crying, licking, falling over each other and general loving chaos ensued. I felt the therapy flowing right into my heart and believe it started the healing process before I even swallowed a pill.

So tonight, I know there will be less coughing, more sleep and four Therapy Dogs on Patrol. What a wonderful way to heal!
