Day 314
3/26/23
The boys seem to be waiting for my return from California! Lilly is probably watching from some place of Alpha Power!
Leaving my son is beyond challenging, but home is a beacon of love like a bright star guiding my journey. What is it about "roots" that often keeps us "rooted" in our home of origin?
Family, memories, familiarity, comfort and habit play a huge part. However, it does seem to be deeper than that. Our roots give us strength to withstand storms, challenges, change and growth. Being a 3rd generation Anoka makes for very strong roots indeed.
I love "home" for myself, but admire my son for taking the huge leap of moving across the country to start a new life. His loving support group on the coast is helping him put down roots in new soil. I am humbled by the love, charity and acceptance his new "family" has openly offered. He is lucky, but so are they!
So, I head home where my roots beckon. Even though the tears are fresh on my face, I am heading home.
