Throughout our home, there are MANY signs with meaningful sayings regarding family, love and Goldens. In my walk-in closet, I have a wall of affirmations that help start my day out on a positive note. The written word has always meant so much to me.

Back when I was teaching elementary school, I had a quote by Mother Teresa on my desk. It was, perhaps, her most famous one about "Do It Anyway," which started by saying:

"People are often unreasonable and self-centered.

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives.

Be kind anyway..."

I continue to keep that as my mantra. I also firmly believe that my Goldens live and breath that quote with every breath they take.

Looking at some of her other wise sayings, I came upon a few that touched my heart.

"If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are."

"Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming away better and happier."

"We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of the missing drop."

"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."

The list of wise words goes on and on. Mother Teresa seems to have touched so many, regardless of their journey in life.

It looks like I will need to find more space on that closet wall. Or, perhaps, I can start by just watching my Goldens and trying to be more like them!
