Day 300
3/12/23
I believe I know where the phrase "Creature Comforts" came from...creatures! The Goldens simply love a nice bed, sofa or dog bed for starters. They also revel in ear scratches, tummy rubs and snuggles. Their newest, most favorite thing is "Rooba, Rooba"!
When they go our for their romp in the snow, otherwise known as "Snow Bath Time," they seem to love every joyous minute. When it is time to come back through the doggy door, they weigh their options and, sometimes, decide to stay outside to play.
I now entice them in by calling "Rooba, Rooba," to which their response is fast and furious. They come screaming into the house, put the brakes on with their snowy hobbit feet and line up for their newest creature comfort. Using dry, fluffy towels, they each get a rub down from head to tail. Their faces say it all! This is indeed Heaven on earth!
Humans also seem to rely on their own creature comforts. Whether it is a soft, warm blanket, music playing, a fire in the fireplace, hot cocoa, a candle burning or a foot rub (Thank you Mac!!!), my senses enjoy every moment. Why is it that we crave these comforts?
For me, it gives me a time to pause and reflect, give thanks and feel gratitude or enjoy offering comfort to another. There is a place deep within which craves this kind of pampering. When one is fortunate enough to bask in the glow of contentment, gratitude fills the heart. That, in my humble opinion, does not happen enough!
So, even though we are only human, we need our creature comforts to help us face the world. Taking a lesson from my Goldens, I simply enjoy the moment!
