Day 283

2/23/23

Gus was a star at his doggy class tonight!!!! He was even chosen by the instructor to demonstrate in the ring. Mac and I were smiling like proud parents!

When we returned, Lilly gave an obligatory sniff, but the boys were overjoyed to see him! They wagged their tails and licked his face for the longest time! These dogs have such a genuine love for each other.

I have attended a few reunions in my day. I was at my 20-year and 40-year high school celebrations! After 20 years, most people were still recognizable. After 40 years, I needed to check a few name tags to identify old friends. This year, it is my 50th Anoka High School Reunion! Where did that time go? Hopefully, I will recognize a few old friends!

The interesting thing about seeing people after many years is that it just takes a moment for them to morph into a recognizable friend! The eyes are the first to bring the memories back. Soon, the faces seem to shift into a semblance of their 1973 self. After a time, they are simply my old friends.

Reunions don't have to be grandiose to be memorable. Reuniting with one, two or about a dozen friends at the lovely Ticknor Hill (Yes....I mean YOU Anoka Girls!) can be just as special and fun. Reconnecting after only a few weeks or months can be amazing as well!

Whatever the reunion, always try to be in the moment and enjoy each one of them. They are evidence that you have made bonds that have lasted. That is very special in this day and age.

As for my Goldens, their reunions can be after only five minutes! They dance, whimper, and wag their tails after we go outside to check the mail. I want to embrace reunions that way too...well, probably not at my 50th, but we shall see!
