Day 204
12/5/22
It is the season for gifts, sharing and good will! I love this time of year and am a self-proclaimed "Christmas Girl!" As I finished up the decorating and turned my energies toward gifts and wrapping, I couldn't help but think of gifts I have received in the past.
Back when I was an elementary teacher, I was given so many wonderful presents throughout my tenure. The ones that stand out are the ones that were truly given from the heart such as:
Bouquets of dandelions from the playground.
A quilt made by one of my most challenging students.
Loving notes that I still keep in my "Treasure Box."
Ornaments, made by hand, that still adorn my tree.
The list goes on and on...I was such a lucky teacher!
Treasured presents from my own children are safely tucked away with my most beloved items.
Beautiful handmade notes from my Amanda, a recorded book from my twins and so many other cherished gifts are kept safe and sound to be enjoyed again and again. I am a lucky mom!
Gifts from my Goldens are sometimes questionable. There was the time Sweet Arthur excitedly entered the doggy door with half a frozen bunny. My reaction must have confused that poor, precious boy! Other doggy gifts come to me in the shape of toys and bones, which are to be shared with the giver! The best ones are the licks, leans and devotion all four offer me. I am a lucky dog mom!
Considering other special presents from beloved friends, my parents and grandparents, I began to realize how amazing it is to be the recipient of a gift. It is also very meaningful to be the giver. Giving or receiving just the right present speaks volumes about the relationships involved. I am always humbled when someone I love chooses just the right gift for my heart.
Gifts do not have to be wrapped or placed under the tree. Offerings of love, time, patience, support and understanding are also treasured presents. Sharing from within can be one of the best gifts to embrace. Those warm the heart and stay with you always and forever.
As for my Goldens, they can't shop or make anything with their own paws. The gifts they offer are beyond anything they could nudge my way. Their pure, devoted love is cherished beyond words...for there are no real words, only loving doggy hearts connecting to my own heart. What a gift that is!
