Day 192

11/23/22

Sharing is HARD when you are a puppy! Whatever Gus has in his possession, Sam must have! Today, surrounded by bones, Sam HAD to have the bone in his brother's mouth. Gus, sweet baby, simply gives Sam whatever he wants.

When my twins were about two, I found this Toddler Rules Chart:

If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my hand, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm building something, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks like mine, it's mine.

It was spot on and, somehow, it helped me to understand their disagreements! It was a constant battle, but they grew up to be sharing adults.

Sharing seems easy when you have enough. The true test for me has been when I felt like I did NOT have enough. Luckily, those times have been few and far between. Back when I was a single parent, there were times when I had to make some difficult choices between sharing and keeping. I hope I mostly chose sharing...

So now, the real goal is to share whenever you see a need...whether you have much or little to share. Sometimes, a smile, a card, a baked item...anything that brightens the day of someone in need.

Tomorrow, I am going to push myself to consciously share with three people who might not even know who the giver is. That's the best way to be more like Gus. If someone needs it, just give it to them!
