Day 185
11/16/22
This picture was my reality today. My Goldens are always close, but when I am not feeling well, they are CLOSE!!!
On Monday, we had a trip to the ER due to Mac's recent positive COVID test and his low oxygen scores. After spending the day there, we were only too happy to get the news that Mac was going home with oxygen. Escape!!!
During the ER day, I had scrambled out to get my own COVID test and then returned to listen to the world's nicest nurse and P.A. as they explained what was going to happen.
Fast forward to this morning. I heard a ding on my cell phone and, since it was my birthday, checked to see if one of the kids had sent an early morning birthday greeting. The greeting was from Allina and they sent a positive COVID test result! The gift that just keeps on giving!
Feeling a bit sorry for myself, I took a big breath, got myself up and started the day. That is when this birthday of mine took flight. Going from gloomy to humbled I thought about my many blessings and decided to focus on those as a gift to myself this year.
The Goldens traveled "as one" surrounding me as we descended the stairs. Talk about four big blessings in my life! Then Mac, who was hooked up to his R2D2 (O2) machine, greeted me with a hug a hot cup of coffee. As I reached for the cup, our "BARK ALARM SYSTEM" went off as I realized my daughter had made an early morning gift drop. I would have been happy with nothing more.
A nurse arrived to check on Mac, another nurse did a ZOOM call with my husband and my phone was ringing with calls and messages. What a wonderful Cacophony Celebration!
Last night, a dear friend dropped of flowers and vegetable soup, while this morning, another most special friend made a drop from Truffles and Tortes. Packages appeared, letters arrived and Daughter Katie checked in numerous times and delivered a rose. Son-in-law Jon even brought a blizzard for sore throats.
The list goes on and on, but my day of blessings was just that...gratitude abounding and humbleness in the foreground.
I didn't get to go out to dinner with family or do something fun to celebrate. Instead, I counted my blessings throughout the day and eventually lost count. Health, warmth, friends, family and GOLDENS are all part of the "Blessing Count." Even with COVID, this may have been my best birthday yet!!!
