Day 1065
Gus received a card in the mail today. Opening it, he sniffed and licked it in excitement…it was from his golden retriever girlfriend in Colorado! (She admitted that her mama had helped her create the card!) The two goldens have never met in “pawson," but have exchanged gifts, cards and hundreds of texts throughout the years. Beautiful Aubry belongs to my oldest childhood friend (we met as babies.). Jim and I keep in touch through our pups and I cherish the connection!
When you look at friendships, each one takes on its own persona. Some are deep and everlasting, some are created through a common goal, while others come about for a short time due to happenstance. Someone near and dear to our hearts once said,
“People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.”
These words ring true in my world. The “reason and season friends” are so important on life’s journey. They are there through challenges, joys, sorrows and events. They support us for just the right amount of time before they saunter off to their next encounter. They help us with the building blocks of our lives. The “lifetime friends” are not only the foundation of our existence, but also the supports to keep us standing tall. We may not see them often, but we know they are there whenever we need them.
So for Gus and Aubry, their friendship is a facade for the deep caring between myself and one of my most special “forever friends.” Please don’t tell Gus… he thinks it’s real “Puppy Love!”
