Day 1050
According to Ranger, “Tummy Time” is the most important time of the day! He will let us know, within five minutes, when the bowls need to be filled and delivered. The barking does not cease until the food is ready to be delivered! Sweet boy!
Meal time has always been a meaningful time at The Big White House. When I as a child, my family always sat around the table at each meal. There was no television or cell phones back in the day, so conversation was encouraged and welcomed. My folks would always include us in the discussions and ask leading questions to learn about our plans and experiences. It was magical!
When my own children were little, I carried on the tradition and even added Sunday Dinners, (We would invite guests to join our family.). Those were memorable times. Of course cell phones, the internet and cable TV were all infiltrating our world, but not at the dinner table! Meals were a sacred time when we had the chance to connect with each other.
Today, those rules still stand. We were recently at a restaurant where almost ever patron had their cell phones out…scrolling through social media I assume. Not at our table! Table rules follow us wherever we go.
Sitting around the table can be a beautiful time when everyone is connecting with each other. In this crazy, fast-paced world, it is often one of the few bonding times in our busy days! I gently fight to keep it alive!
Ranger feels the same way! However, after he is done with his bowl, he is always hopeful that someone else might share a morsel or two!
