Day 1042
Today, my attention-seeker would absolutely NOT allow me to crochet! Every time my hand left Sammy’s head or paw, that pup would place his paw on my yarn or my hand. There was no denying him! Finally, I put aside my yarn and capitulated. It was the right choice…those brown eyes made it worth every second.
Why is it that people sometimes make the wrong choice? In this case, the crochet project had a deadline, but I make MANY decisions based on priority and duty. Even though chores, lists and other mundane tasks need to be addressed, there are truly more important things right before our eyes.
When my kids were little, I wish I had a dime for every time I responded with:
“Just a minute.”
“I’ll be there after I finish the dishes,”
“Could you choose another book? We just read that one.”
“Sorry! I have to do the wash.”
“”I only have a minute or two before I need to go.”
All of those minutes/hours/days spent on unmemorable tasks certainly add up! I realize there is a need to “keep the boat afloat," but balance is needed as well.
Just now, Ranger and Sam put their heads in my lap and I almost said, “Hey, Boys, give me a second to finish my post for today.” However, I am going to follow my own advice and rub a tummy or two! Ranger and Sam are in agreement!
