Day 104
8/26/22
Today is National Dog Day! At our house, every day is "Dog Day", but it is nice for our nation to take a pause, look down at our feet and honor the most loyal beings on the planet!
As you can see from our pictures, our home has "Gone to the Dogs" in a big way. We once had five dogs in the house and I called that a great start! Honestly, they were all amazing and offered so much love and companionship!
We have said good-bye to a number of our beloved pets (Molly, Mickey, Rosie, Arthur, Oreo and Nicky), but I think about them each and every day. Their memories live on as, each morning, I recall a special memory...gently touching their urns or boxes gathered on an antique desk by the front door. They gave us all their love and devotion for their entire lives. Amazing...
When we had five pups living with us, the pack consisted of three goldens, one border collie and a little white Maltese/poodle mix. What a crew! My son used to say, "Who needs a 'Ring' when you have 'Bark'?" When someone came to the door, they would all head that way singing the song of their people at top volume! Nobody could sneak up on us...EVER!
With Gus added and Sam on the way, we will be barely under our record of five dogs with four golden retrievers this time. I can't wait! It means extra fur, extra food, extra yard pick-up and extra vet visits. All worth it for the extra love and devotion they offer! "Walking With Goldens" will never be lacking for ideas!
Happy National Dog Day to everyone...two-legged and four-legged alike!
