Day 1039

Finally!!! Lilly was able to go on a Therapy Dog visit this morning! Getting the “Green Light” from her medical team at the University of Minnesota, we headed over to Walker with renal-friendly treats in hand! She was so happy!

We had to intercept a few well-meaning ‘treatsters’, but a quick explanation of the situation worked wonders! It also helped that our dear friend, Kathy, was there with Lilly’s favorite doctor approved treats! What a friend!

Although my love guides me to safeguard Lilly’s health, it is not as easy to point that spotlight on myself. It would seem that exercise, diet and healthy life choices are for others…not me!

Ministering to others always seems easier than taking care of ourselves. Perhaps that is because we feel fine (until we don’t) and others’ symptoms are easier to focus on! I tell my loved ones in care-taking roles, “Who will take care of everyone if you go down…hmmmm?” That does not apply to me!

Luckily, I tend to bounce back quickly if I am down for the count! However, I should listen to my own advice and take care of those old knees and other issues from time-to-time…maybe tomorrow!
