Day 932

What do dogs dream of? Unlike humans, they seem to live for the moment without much thought of goals, personal problems or future issues. Perhaps I am wrong, but they don’t typically look as if they are worrying about things that might happen.

Sammy might have been daydreaming about squirrels or the dog down the street. I can almost guarantee that his brain was not contemplating politics, the stock market or what is on television tonight. Perhaps that is why he looks so serene and relaxed!

Nobody could accuse me of looking that way. Gazing out a window, I might see ten or twelve projects that need to be accomplished while my brain mentally makes a list of a dozen indoor “opportunities” waiting for me to dive into. Humans are often like that.

Why can’t we be more doglike and allow ourselves to dream more often? When I attempt to do just that, I am briefly successful and then my brain starts its linear pattern and a checklist for my day begins to materialize.

Setting a goal for daydreaming seems like it might get in the way of my “To Do List”! I know!

I will write it ON my “To Do List” and then be able to cross it out!!!!

Perhaps I wasn’t born to daydream, but I am going to try to embrace my inner Sammy and give it a try!
