Day 930
Feeling safe seems to be essential for happiness. Lilly (and the boys) must feel safe and secure in The Big White House, since they often let their guard down and relax. When we are outside, it can be a different story. Unexpected animals, loud noises and other disturbances can cause all four to head to my side for reassurance. Luckily, I can calm the fear and redirect their energies in a safe direction.
We have all had times in our lives when we were afraid. When those moments happen in my life, I move towards one of my trusted loved ones. Perhaps they cannot eradicate the source of the fear, but they can make me feel safe… just by “being there” for me. The act of “being there” can take many forms… a hug, a card, a phone call, a listening ear, a hand to hold…the list is endless. The comfort is real.
Hopefully, we all have those safe people who calm the waters. In addition, I hope that others would come to me with any fears. I would be there for them to the very best of my ability…along with four very soothing Goldens.
