Day 916
On a glorious November day, we discovered that dogs are now allowed on the paths at Elm Creek! It has been too long since we have visited this magical venue, so finding dogs on the walkways was a wonderful surprise!!! There will be Goldens there soon!
Walking in the woods brought back so many wonderful memories. My twins were reminiscing about their recollections with laughter and love. It was lovely to walk down Memory Lane with those two and it warmed my heart that they had such great childhood memories to share.
Somewhere, in the blur of raising children, working, going to school for added degrees, taking care of aging parents, extra curricular activities for your children, keeping a house, making lunches…whew…some of my own memories were more survival based!
Walking through those woods today was different for me. No longer responsible for most of those “hats” I wore when they were younger, I could concentrate on the here-and-now…what a gift. Listening to the chatter and laughter, pausing to see through Asher’s eyes, breathing in the fresh air and so much more was given 100% of my being. It was glorious!
It is too bad that young adults have so much on their plates to balance. If only they could compartmentalize each part of that life and live for the moment…if only. Perhaps that is a gift bestowed on grandparents and others who hang some of those “hats” on the wall as memories.
I will venture back with a Golden now and then and savor every moment in the woods. Today’s amazing field trip has set the stage for many future walks in the woods…but next time, I will be Walking With Goldens!
