Day 907
All of the Goldens BEG to be chosen when I grab the lanyard, bandana and leash! Even Sam wants to go, although he is still in training, but I can only choose one. Today, Ranger won that lottery!
Going to one of our senior venues, we entered and headed to Memory Care. There is one resident there who seems misplaced in some regards. It seems she had a head injury, but her clarity, humor and wisdom are still very much present. I always tell her she is my favorite and that brings a smile.
Today, as Ranger put his big head in her lap, she talked about wisdom. After I had mentioned that I learn so much about life from her stories and thoughts, she smiled and stroked Ranger’s fur. She shared this thought…
'You know, we all have challenges in life and experiences that make us who we are. We need to take all that is handed to us and turn it into wisdom. Sharing what we have learned is why we are here on earth. (Pointing upwards) Whatever Spirit you pray to guides your life. You just have to follow the path set before you and share what you have learned with the world.'
I thanked her and received a rare gentle touch of her hand on mine. “Thank YOU and that beautiful dog. It means so much to have you visit.”
Humbled and wiser, Ranger and I turned to leave. Stopping me, she made me promise to come back soon. Of course, I promised to come back very soon. Ranger gave her one last nuzzle and seemed to agree.
