Day 829
We bought a new vacuum cleaner and I am so excited!!! Our old one (20 years old or so) is in the shop but still works. While it is getting fixed, a cheaper model was needed to gather ALL the Golden Glitter that filters down each day. This new one practically sucks the dog hair in as it ‘fluffs’ off of the Goldens! It is a beautiful thing indeed!
It is amazing how the thrill of getting a new toy morphs as we grow older. As a child, I would scour the Sears Wish Book for treasures galore! My heart would beat faster as I turned each page. My list was long, but each starred and circled item brought so much excitement. Board games, Barbie’s, troll dolls and a host of other “wants” were marked in the hopes of getting a few of those things. The excitement almost matched today’s gift…a dog hair-collecting machine that allowed me to see our carpet again!
A first car, eventually replaced by future models, will always hold a special place in my heart because of the excitement in driving it as a youth. A television that now is the size of a refrigerator is awesome and a thrill to enjoy! A new phone with incredible capabilities is fun to use and a humbling experience to navigate. However, that new vacuum is right up there with the best possessions I have acquired!
Finally getting to a point in life when “gathering” things is not a priority allows me to enjoy the smaller things that have their own joy!
That vacuum cleaner is the highlight of my day so far! Oh, the satisfaction found in simple pleasures!
