Day 797

Whenever one of us is a little under the weather, our Goldens never leave our side. It is such a good feeling to have them “underfoot," “by my side” and “front and center!" They truly are the perfect medicine for just about everything.

When I was little, I believed my parents could fix anything. Skinned knee, a broken heart, the flu… you name it, they made it all better. Eventually, there were issues they just couldn’t fix. By then, even though they couldn’t fix everything anymore, they had gifted me the strategies and strength to fix it myself.

The gifts they taught me and modeled were rich with a plan for adulthood:

*Confront each challenge with honesty.

*Lean into empathy.

*Look at the pros and cons.

*Try not to take things personally.

*Ask trusted individuals for advice.

*Admit when you are wrong.

*Do not react immediately…give it some time.

*Most “fixes” are not life and death.

*Above all else, lead with a kind heart.

In addition, I might add that I can always strive to be more Golden. They help to fix just about everything!
