Day 767

Today, Mr. Ranger had the opportunity to visit at Norbella. Our senior friends and staff were so happy to see this big guy! Usually Lilly is the one they look for, but all were happy to see her brother.

Starting in Memory Care, we eventually made our way over to Assisted Living. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and Ranger even scored a few treats!

A long time ago, I heard the old saying, "If you can't say anything nice about a person, don't say anything at all!" Since then, I always look for the good in others and compliment them on that trait. It is a genuine gesture and a habit of mine. Today, the Life Enrichment Director (she is amazing and accompanies us on our rounds) commented on this little habit of mine. She told me that I always say something about each senior that brings a smile. That warmed my heart!

It is so easy to find something special about people you meet. Perhaps a compliment about their smile, how kindness flows from their eyes or how their sweatshirt matches those eyes. Whatever it is, it brightens their day to hear the words.

I have yet to find someone who doesn't have at least one beautiful characteristic, so my habit continues.

Funny, but the Goldens don't need to say kind, uplifting words on their visits...their wagging tails and loving eyes bring smiles from EVERYONE!
