Day 692

This morning, we watched the radar and flew out the door between the showers. Sam and Gus stayed quite dry, but Lilly and Ranger got caught in the rain...as did their Mama! Unable to move any faster than Miss Lilly dictated, Ranger and I accepted the fact that we had to saunter home.

With the wind and rain pelting my face, I grimaced with my head down. We finally arrived home and moved towards the house. Getting the 'Golden Oldies' safely to their doggy door, I gritted my teeth and headed towards the human door. I was stopped in my tracks by a surprising guest! Right in front of me waddled a Mama duck! She looked me right in the eye and quacked as if to say, "Embrace this day! It's not only perfect for a duck, but humans can be as happy as a mallard!". Standing in the rain, I had to agree. My day took a positive turn!

We had planned on a Puppy Spa Day, so I brought my improved attitude inside and grabbed the necessary equipment, zeroing in on Sam. He was such a trooper as I cleaned his ears and trimmed his nails! I allowed him a quick trip outside as a reward while I dealt with the other three.

With towel in hand, I went to the doggy door and called my youngest...no puppy running into the waiting towel! I called for back up and Mr. Mac joined the mission. My amazing husband eventually went out in the rain to entice Sammy inside. Finally, that fuzzy face appeared at the doggy door. Sam was filthy!!! Evidently, he was not a fan of the ear cleaner and rubbed his whole body in the rainy muck with special attention to his head. To his credit, he took the walk of shame directly into the downstairs shower! Sweet boy...

We all face tasks and responsibilities that are less than enjoyable. 'Walking With Goldens' in the cold rain, cleaning the house, yard pickup and a list of other fun jobs could easily take a back seat to a warm fire and a good book! However, we face those onerous tasks with resolve...they must get done! Even Sam knew he needed a shower!

After we accomplish the jobs we don't enjoy, we can reward ourselves with something more fun. The pups are clean and napping in front of the TV. I am looking forward to that book by the fire and our friendly duck is probably embracing her day in the rain...she was right...it was a good day to embrace!
