Today is National Golden Retriever Day! It is a day when "Golden" lovers everywhere share pictures on Social Media and those, lucky to have one in the family, reflect on the joy they bring.

Golden Retriever: a Scottish breed of retriever dog of medium size. It is characterized by a gentle and affectionate nature and a striking golden coat.

That is what the dictionary tells us, but they missed a few characteristics:

*Empathetic

*Food-loving

*Funny

*Water possessed

*Need to please

*Wagging feather duster

*Golden glitter shared throughout the house

*Needy

*Paw holding

*Athletic

*Snow-loving

*Perfect

Our four, and dear Arthur before them, share their love, hair and devotion with us every single day. When we sit, they are touching us at our feet. When we eat, they use every tool in their possession to get a morsel. Tummy rubs, back scratches, ear massages...you name it, they NEED it! Their goal in life is to be interacting with their humans at all times.

Every breed of dog should have a National Day to celebrate their unique gifts, but today is set aside for Goldens. We feel our fur babies enrich our lives beyond measure and find that we are smitten with our four. So, Happy National Golden Retriever Day to the pups and their owners! It is a happy day indeed!
