Day 62
7/13/22
Today was another day of filming and interviews for the QCTV documentary. Lilly was the star today and didn't disappoint as we visited Walker Plaza Senior Living and then headed down for an interview by the river. She was so patient with everything we asked of her and showed her true loving spirit.
One of the interview questions was, "Why did you choose golden retrievers for your Therapy Dog work?" I had answered the other questions with ease and comfort. This query stopped me in my tracks for a moment. I wanted to answer it honestly and had to dig way down deep for the answer.
When I embrace a real "truth," I react with an emotion akin to sadness. It is strange, but when tears are ready to surface, I know that this visceral reaction means I am facing a true belief. It doesn't happen all that often, so I pay close attention and honor the wisdom from within.
I don't remember exactly the words I used, but my response went something like this. 'Goldens embody the best part of all living things. They are kind, generous of spirit, gentle and loving beyond measure. Not only do they make the best Therapy Dogs for me, but I observe them and attempt to be more like them. I will never achieve that perfect mixture, but I will keep trying as they make the world (especially mine) a better place.'
They are truly angels in disguise, and I am lucky to be in their presence.
