Day 603
These two sweeties had a busy day! Reflecting on all of the visits, I realized we run into quite a few characters!
Lilly started the day off at our nearby senior living venue. She goes twice a week with the second day being a longer stay. As this was our first day, we headed up to see our favorite teacher from years ago and found ourselves stopped by a host of Golden friends.
"M": This gentleman is ALWAYS in the hallway and asks when Lilly is moving in. After months of playing this cute game, I informed him she just moved into the Penthouse! He thought that was pretty amazing!
"K": This lovely lady is turning 103 soon, but the mind works like a steel trap! She waits for us both days and, when she calls Lilly's name, Lilly lopes right over to get some loving. This lady is pretty incredible!
"D": Our favorite teacher from years ago, holds court in the game room. As we sit next to the elevators, NUMEROUS residents stop by to greet Miss Lilly. "D" has a handful of dog treats and others bring them by from time-to-time making for a very happy Therapy Dog!
Running Lilly home and doing a quick switch to Ranger, we head off to Mercy Hospital. This boy is famous! Although there are six or seven Goldens who visit each week, EVERYONE knows Ranger!
Credit Union: Ranger arrives and goes behind the desks to make a "treat withdrawal" to the delight of everyone there!
Administration: He barrels in to the office realizing there are at least two ladies who have treats at their desks. Today, each one was present and Ranger's head went back and forth so many times...trying to decide his plan of attack! The laughter continued until the "EXIT TREAT," which seems to be the only way to leave the area with any dignity!
Physical Therapy: This is a weekly haunt, so the morning crew knew their pup! Descending on him from every angle, Ranger got the love and attention he desired. It was a wonderful time of sharing stories and having us be their audience and cheer leaders!
PHP: The class we spent our time with was focused and intent on learning about Therapy Dogs. A number actually got down on the floor to share the love while others took a moment or two to warm up to this big, harry guy! By the end, even the most hesitant fell under his charms!
Heart Waiting: The best! Someone was waiting for their father to come up to a room after surgery. Not only did they have Goldens, but they own an Alpaca Farm! We were invited to visit them this weekend and might just take them up on their offer!
There were so many more meet-and-greets, but we were happy to head home for a very late lunch! Ranger was tired, Lilly greeted us with a yawn/stretch, the little boys jumped around like we had been gone for months and the humans offered hugs.
What a day full of wonderful people! We are so lucky to be able to do this work...just ask Ranger and Lilly!
