Day 551
Tonight, as my Goldens and I watched the sun set on another day, I realized there are two types of people:
*Those who love sunrises and become excited for what the day might offer...
*Those who relish the sunset and enjoy reflecting on the day...
Although my breath will catch for both, I tend to be in the sunset camp.
Sunrises can be absolutely glorious, but I am often already on the move and find it challenging to stop and embrace the beauty. When a sunrise is too awesome to ignore, I will pause and let the rich colors infiltrate my soul...then it's off to the next daily 'opportunity.'
Sunsets are a different story for me. As the sun disappears on the horizon, I watch until the last flickers of orange disappear. That often means the show has just begun. 'Painting' some of the most breathtaking colors, the sky slowly changes from a rich, vibrant watercolor to one with softer hues. Finally, the darkness wins, but I know there is more to come when the stars begin to twinkle like lights on a Christmas tree. This 'showdown' between day and night allows me to take a breath and embrace my day.
If my Goldens could choose, they might vote for sunsets. For these wonderful beasts, it means we are tucked in for the night and we will be close by. All four are now snoozing away at my feet as dusk fades to darkness. Perhaps that is evidence enough of their preference.
