Day 52
7/3/22
This evening, as my golden three are cowering downstairs with their Daddy due to the fireworks, I thought I would write about some of the humor they have brought into our lives. Perhaps, I will read it to them when they come upstairs to bed. It might just calm their nerves!
Lilly has always been our prim and proper girl. She seems to give thought to every move as if to avoid any embarrassment! However, there is one memory we have of our girl up at the cabin. Now, I want to share that we didn't crack a smile until we checked her out COMPLETELY for any injuries, but when we knew she was OK, we couldn't stop the laughter. At the cabin, Ranger and Lilly always race each other down towards the beach at lightning speed to jump off the dock. The problem was that we had not yet put the dock in the water!!! Ranger stopped in confusion, but Lilly (ever the alpha) led the way up a slanted dock section and flew through the air...into the sand!!! Poor baby!
Our sweet Ranger doesn't always seem to grasp a situation to its fullest. There was the time he was chasing Lilly around the gazebo in the back yard. Lilly pulled over to the side and watched her brother continue to race around the structure in a futile attempt to catch his sister! When he finally stopped to assess the situation, there sat Lilly panting with that golden smile on her face!
Ranger was in his final classes for Therapy Dog when he failed to sit in the right position. He was off-center and our instructor came over to fix his mistake. Now this amazing teacher tends to be pretty alpha by nature, so when she approached and grabbed his haunches, Ranger actually leaped over my shoulder to peer out at his instructor. I thought she would have a few words to say to me, but she sat on the floor and, laughing, said, "You've wussified him!" We still laugh about that incident!
Now, Gus has this girlfriend a Colorado! She is one of three goldens belonging to one of my dearest, oldest friends. The two dogs text almost daily to share ideas of how to control their humans. It brings so many smiles and laughs in our household! Tonight, Gus was in his "pen" (the front hall) and was feeling pretty mistreated. I sent this picture to his lady and attached a message from Gus.
Gus: Look at my prison! Help me!
Aubry: "Poor you! Won't your Mommy let you out to play? AND that bowl looks pretty empty! What's that all about? Puppy abuse, if you ask me!!!
Gus: I know! Call the Puppy Police!
Aubry: They should be there soon!
They warm our hearts, bring tears to our eyes, make us proud, humble us and complete our lives. These dogs are family!
