Day 476

So, here we are at the Emergency Veterinarian Care with an eye infection. Most pet parents would have waited for a day...not us! It is Labor Day, but our Ranger needed help.

Waiting is a strange phenomenon. Arriving before 9 this morning, we are approaching a 3 hour wait. We are not alone. We are in the presence of a beagle with a bad tooth, a lab with a sore paw, a cat with breathing issues and others with more serious complications. In the waiting room, people are beginning to bond. As a new pet is called to the back, we all cheer them on!

Waiting in a group has a set of rules. At first, you smile and nod. Eventually, you strike up a conversation. Before you know it, life stories are being shared and momentary friendships are established. The chance of seeing these people again is slim, yet the connections are real.

The game of waiting starts at an early age, so we become quite good at it as we walk life's pathways. By the time one reaches a "mature age," we are pros!

So today we wait with a grateful heart that there is a clinic open and that our boy is not in a critical situation.

I am thankful for veterinarians, patient people and a pup who only suffers from a sore eye.

As for Ranger, he just wants to go home!
