Day 410

A number of lovely occurrences led to a day of humble thanksgiving. Our sweet Goldens have brought so many incredible people into our lives and I am beyond grateful for that gift.

There was a package in the mail today which held gifts for our entire family. Sweet Naomi (and Joe) have entered our lives from our California son, but her support of Walking With Goldens has certainly strengthened the bond. Each present was selected for individuals in our "pack"...even down to a bag of yummy treats for the Goldens. My gifts were chosen with so much love and I felt so honored as I savored each one. Special people indeed.

Another "Golden friend" is the mother of sweet Gracie (13 years Gold and counting!) and her support is never-ending. We met because of the pups, but the friendship continues to grow and blossom. Words she shared today touched my heart. Sharon is a gift.

As an author (with Therapy Dog work woven into each theme), serendipity has played a hand in friendships that are ever-lasting and cherished. From book signings to sharing my stories with readers of all ages, it is I who becomes humbled when the day is done.

Doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy have become near and dear. Students and teachers at Oxbow hold a special place in our hearts. Walker Senior Residence is a place where the Goldens have touched lives and, in turn, my life has been enriched beyond comprehension. Walking through the neighborhood and down by the river has allowed us to meet and befriend countless walkers and residents who are now friends. This is all because of those Goldens!

I would not have met so many of these precious friends if not for my Therapy Dog work and those amazing pups who walk beside me. It made me stop and think about my life had I not chosen the Golden Path.

It's hard to imagine the choices I would have made if no Therapy Dog work was on the calendar. I am almost positive that I would have followed a different path to try to make this world a better place. There are so many opportunities to share your love with the world...I was just lucky enough to have a Golden to make that decision an easy one.

With every minute spent out in the world with my Goldens, there are infinite moments of love, laughter, kindness, and bonding that come right back to me. I am the lucky one. My Therapy Dogs have opened the door to this world that so deeply touches my heart. What a lucky girl I am!
