Day 37

6/17/22

Today's walk was something special! I first took Gus on the river walk and then returned for Lilly and Ranger. We are so very lucky to have our grandson a couple days a week and he asked if he could join us. Of course, I approved!

Here is a small portion of our conversation to the best of my recollection:

Hey, Nanny! Look at those birds up in the sky! They are floating!
Hey, Nanny! What's that on the sidewalk? It looks like a squished worm or something!
Hey, Nanny! Ranger did something. Are you going to pick that up?
Hey, Nanny! Can we go to the playground?
(Of course we went to the little playground!)
Hey, Nanny! Can Ranger and Lilly go down the slide?
Hey, Nanny! I "goed" up the slide backwards!

I had no chance to answer any questions since the next one was fired off fast! Now it was time to go to Space Camp at the local church, so I gathered both dogs and Asher together and headed down to a walkway by the river. There were three or four puddles directly in the way, so I cautioned him to stay dry for school!

No sooner had I murmured those words than Asher squatted down, arms back and a look on his face that left no doubt as to his
intention! At that very moment, a biker pedaled by and said, "That is just too much temptation for one little guy!"
Of course, with the bicyclist almost giving him permission, he jumped smack dab into the middle of the puddle!

There were many reactions that floated through my brain, but I settled on laughter and a hug! He laughed right along with me and gave a suspicious glance at the remaining puddles. I told him we needed to hurry home, clean up, dry up and head to Space Camp! He grabbed Ranger's leash while I had Lilly on the other one. We headed up the hill and he looked up at me and said, "Hey, Nanny! It's a good day, right?"

With tears in my eyes, I answered, "Yes, Buddy! It is a very good day!"

What is better than a little boy, two dogs and a walk in the park? The look on his sweet face and his hand in mine!
