This morning, I was mesmerized by the "Cuteness" of Sam and Gus! Sammy decided to use his brother for a pillow and Sweet Gus just accepted it. They simply melt my heart on a daily basis, but today they displayed a Cuteness Overload!
When we find something, or someone, to be cute, it seems to affect the brain and heart in the strangest manner. It makes one feel all warm and protective towards the displayer of cuteness. Perhaps, this is why we protect our children, babies, puppies, and any other being that cries out, "I am so cute!"
Grandchildren certainly fall into that category. I am fortunate to live next door to my grandson and we are, by everyone's estimation, pretty close! I could write a book of "Asherisms," but last night was one of the best!
Mom and Dad were working, so Nanny and Papa had the joy of taking Asher out to dinner and then home for a bath and snuggles. When we arrived at the house, Sam and Gus acted as if we had been gone for AGES! They greeted all of us, but centered most of their love on Mama. Both jumped up at the same time forcing me to take a seat in a rather quick manner. I happened to hit my elbow on the table and told them that they had hurt me. After they pups had calmed down and many shared doggy kisses, all was forgiven and Asher and I headed up for bath time.
After he was ensconced in his bubble bath, with Monster Trucks surrounding him, he paused for a moment and looked at me for the longest time. When the conversation began, it went something like this:
Asher: Hey, Nanny! Are you doing OK? Did the puppies hurt you?
Me: Not really. They were just a little too happy to see me!
LONG PAUSE.......
Asher: Hey, Nanny. If you ever got really hurt, I would take care of you.
Me: (Tears beginning to pool in my eyes) That is sweet, Honey. How would you do that?
LONG PAUSE....
Asher: I would make you coffee!
ANOTHER LONG PAUSE...
Asher: I don't know how, but I would figure it out!
Me: I love you, Asher.
Asher: I love you too, Nanny.
My cuteness overload for the night!
