Day 22

6/2/22

Today was a day for working in the yard. Normally, I love yardwork, but there were a few challenges to face!

I am sure, most people know what instrument of torture is in today's photo. No, not Gus! Hah! The old-fashioned mower! For some reason, I decided it would be easier to use this machine instead of the self-propelled or riding variety. We actually have all three of these devices, but I chose the antique!

Gus, Lilly and Ranger love their sticks! There were a plethora of these little darlings which found their way to the ground after the storms on Memorial Day. I thought I had collected all of them, along with a few other "treasures," but I was grossly mistaken!

Push, push, push, STOP! Dig out the stick which had gleefully jammed the blades. Push, push, push, STOP! This went on for about 20 minutes with Gus and Ranger happily taking the sticks to chew nearby. I soon found out that they were leaving them right on the path of my mower of choice. Oh well, it was mostly mowed!

As I battled the grass and sticks, I began to think about the pups right there in the yard. Those three want to be near their humans, no matter what. Lilly chose to keep a watchful eye from a distance, but the boys would take a discarded stick and lie down as close to me as possible. Perhaps not at the moment, but what a comfort they provide in our lives. We are never alone (NEVER), never lonely and never without a true, devoted friend. What a gift they are! Now that mower...not so much!
