Day 106
8/28/22
Simple pleasures aren't always that simple! I typically schedule and list-make myself into a wall-to-wall busy day. I have even placed simple pleasures on my "To Do List" for the day and never really get to them.
Today, I took my goldens into the sun room (I call it the "son room" when Jimmy is home!) and forced myself to sit down and read a magazine. It didn't start out well. I read the first couple of pages and then my mind wandered to the other things on my list today. I tried to refocus on the magazine, but the moment was lost.
I found my focus drifting to my pups and realized they are pros at embracing those simple pleasures.
At first glance, they all snuggled in for a good old fashioned "Bone Chewing Session." Next, they decided to look out the window to simply enjoy the view. Finally, it was nap time. Did they make a list? No...simple pleasures just come naturally to these special beasts.
Sitting there, watching my goldens, I realized that I needed to move those simple pleasures towards the top of my list for the day. I enjoy knitting and crocheting, reading, baking, cribbage, biking...and the list goes on. Most days, I look out the window and realize, although I have accomplished much, I never got to check off those parts of the list that bring relaxation, time to reflect and fun!
By the way, I did finish that magazine! Now, I think I will go down to the piano and play a piece or two for a very appreciative audience...my goldens (and Mac). It will feel SO good to check that off my list!
